This is informed by a previous research project developing a republican account of domination and dependence in the context of illness and disability.

Modern Moral Conscience

This research reconstructs the history of modern moral conscience.

​This historical account is used to question the coherence of dominant individualistic and normatively neutral justifications for liberty of conscience.

Self-Legislation in Metaethics

This project deepens my research into the relationship between freedom and normativity.

My latest work assesses whether social and historical accounts of self-legislation can explain the critical rationality necessary for ethical and political thought.
